About Ankeshan
Ankeshan is an Indian software company building an Excel-native, offline mini-ERP for small businesses and MSMEs. The name Ankeshan (अंकेशन) means "auditing" in Hindi — from अंक, meaning numbers or figures. That is exactly our promise: to be the quiet auditor that keeps India's small businesses compliant, accurate and on time — without making them leave the Excel they already trust.
Why we built Ankeshan
Millions of Indian businesses run on Excel. It's fast, familiar, free of monthly fees, and it never asks them to send their books to someone else's cloud. But Excel can't keep up with GST returns, e-invoices, payroll deductions, the 45-day MSME payment rule, TDS and an ever-changing compliance calendar. So owners patch the gap with expensive software they don't enjoy, a CA's spreadsheet, and a lot of late-night worry.
We thought the answer wasn't to replace Excel — it was to make Excel smart enough to handle compliance on its own. Ankeshan adds a real application inside Excel: seven connected modules that turn everyday sales, stock and payment data into GST-ready returns, branded invoices, accurate payslips and on-time filings.
What we believe
- Keep what works. The best tool is the one people already use. We add intelligence to Excel rather than asking owners to relearn their whole workflow.
- Your data is yours. Ankeshan runs on your computer. Your books, customers and salaries stay on your machine — not on our servers.
- Compliance should be quiet. Rules change constantly. Software should absorb that change in the background so a rate revision or new deadline never breaks your filing.
- Made for India, in Indian languages. Hindi-first, built around how Indian SMBs and their Chartered Accountants actually work.
How Ankeshan works
You install Ankeshan as an add-in on Windows Excel (2010 or later). It opens as a clean panel beside your sheets. Your transactional data stays in Excel; reference data and settings live in a small local database on your PC. Ankeshan reads your entries, applies the latest GST and statutory rules, and generates returns, invoices, ledgers, payslips and reminders. It connects to the internet only to validate your licence and fetch updated rules — never to upload your accounts.
Who Ankeshan is for
Shopkeepers and retailers, traders and wholesalers, small manufacturers, service businesses, and the Chartered Accountants who serve them. You'll get the most from Ankeshan if you:
- run your business in Excel and don't want to leave it,
- want to stay offline and keep your data on your own PC,
- prefer a one-time purchase over monthly subscriptions,
- are wary of learning heavy accounting software, and
- work with a CA who already lives in Excel.
Who Ankeshan is not for (yet)
We'd rather be honest than oversell. Ankeshan may not be the right fit today if you need several people editing the books at the same time, bill mostly from a mobile phone on the move, run very high transaction volume across many billing counters, or need cloud access from any device anywhere. For those needs, a cloud or mobile-first tool may serve you better — and our honest comparison says exactly that.
Our value proposition, plainly
Ankeshan converts Excel from a passive spreadsheet into an intelligent, GST-current, compliance-aware system — without asking the owner to migrate, learn, subscribe, or surrender their data. That is a position no cloud or app-first competitor can occupy without undermining their own product. Ankeshan is a wedge into a specific, underserved segment — the millions of Indian businesses already living in Excel — not a claim to beat Tally at Tally's own game. That focus is exactly why it can win.
Our commitment to accuracy
Tax and compliance are serious. Every figure, rate and deadline in our software and on this website is sourced from official authorities — CBIC, GSTN, the Income Tax Department, EPFO, ESIC, the Ministry of MSME and the MCA — and dated, so you always know it's current. When the law changes, we update. That said, our guides and tools are general information, not professional advice — please read our Disclaimer and always confirm your specific situation with a qualified professional.
